Welcome! We are the Ginga’n’Roll studio for Brazilian martial arts in Braunschweig. We stand for the highest standards, quality, hygiene, and tradition. Our coaches are native Brazilians. They will not only teach you the fighting techniques but also share with you the philosophy, discipline, values, and the fun of this art, so that the training brings real benefits beyond the mat. The family-like atmosphere in particular sets us apart from many other gyms. It is important to us that it’s not just about training, but also about our community and the intercultural exchange that brings us closer together and teaches us a lot about the world and about ourselves.
This Brazilian martial dance is a combination of fitness, acrobatics, rhythm, and musicality. It was originally developed by African slaves in Brazil as a form of defense against oppression by large landowners. Through its history, every Capoeirista learns to keep a cool head, to stand strong together, and to see the positive things in life even during difficult times.
Jiu-Jitsu originally comes from Japan and is closely related to Judo. As a student of Jigoro Kano, Mitsuyo Maeda brought this martial art to Brazil, where it was further developed by the Gracie family and became known worldwide as BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu). This martial art is characterized by using the opponent’s strength against them and yielding at the right moment. It is always fascinating to see how a smaller person can immobilize or finish a larger, stronger, and heavier opponent using techniques such as takedowns, joint locks, and chokeholds. Today, BJJ is recognized globally by martial artists as particularly effective. This is demonstrated by its success in the largest Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization, the UFC. BJJ is thus considered the most effective ground-fighting technique and a proven method of self-defense. Our studio and all our coaches are officially recognized by the international Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF). This recognition ensures that we offer the highest standards in training and education and that we are always up to date on competitions as well as new rules and techniques.
